Flying is quite nice in winter at Marfa and I am also available to fly with you (rides and instruction) over the Christmas -- New Year's holidays.  E-mail me at marfagliders@aol.com for details.

2016

* July 8 - 16:  Elmira, NY.

International Vintage Sailplane Meet (IVSM) on historic Harris Hill west of Elmira, NY.  In the hills and valleys  of the "Fingerlakes" wine-country region of New Yord state, Elmira is considered the birthplace of soaring in America (circa 1932) and site of our wonderful National Soaring Museum.  Launching by aerotow from Harris Hill is exciting.  As you clear the brow of the hill, you are suddenly 700 feet above the Chemung River valley!

Plan to attend this gathering of colorful vintage and classic sailplanes (and the colorful characters that restore and fly these beautiful examples of the evolution of sailplanes.)

I plan to make my third driving trip across the USA from Marfa to Elmira (2,200 miles one-way / 5 days) towing my beautifully restored two-seat Schleicher ASK-13 in its custom trailer.  (I love giving rides to fellow enthusiasts off of this historic site.)  You can join the fun by booking airlines into Elmira-Corning Airport (ELM).

* September:   Soaring at the historic Wasserkuppe site in Germany?

October 1:  I’ll begin my winter-spring FREE CHECKRIDES offer at Marfa for FAA Glider Pilot certificates and ratings.  I fly year round and winter is a nice time to train for your checkride with me in my new Schleicher ASK-21 glider.

Note:  I will participate in out-of-town events marked with an asterisk *, so no glider rides, training or aerotows are available at Marfa on these * marked dates.
